EPISODE 10: Venti Working Man

ventiworkingman

Leaving school with a performance degree is always a tricky thing.  You are filled with hopes and dreams that your name will be in lights in no time… then reality crashes down on you, your bills are due, your checking account is overdrawn, your credit cards are maxed out and the only food left in your cupboard is half a roll of stale saltine crackers. But you are an artist, and you make it work. You find time to audition and you get a second job… at Starbucks… just like me.

This story is called Venti Working Man, it was written and performed in 2005.

Great story! I don’t go to Starbucks too often but when I do, I can see some of the people you described. Funny and sad.

Being that I actually used to work at the store you’re talking about, I know WHO you’re talking about. The characters are within and without the store, my friend. :)

I just found your podcast on itunes late one night. I couldn’t sleep and the title grabbed my attention. We have a friend who constantly says “you know how it is?” and my husband always responds with “I know how it is” even when he doesn’t know how it is. I stayed up all night listening to all the podcasts. I LOVED them all.
